Generate square thumbnails using PHP

We were in look out for a code that resizes image into square thumbnails, irrespective of the large image, whether its is in landscape or portrait mode. So that, this helps in solving some issues in terms of layout because the width of a portrait mode picture is obviously less than that of landscape mode pictures.
