Whats New and Missing in the new version of Google Analytics

Postby huzaifa » Mon Jan 09, 2012 4:03 pm

First Of all the old version will be in place only this January after that the old version will turned off.

Now lets see whats missing first and inaccurate

1) There is no Option to "export PDF" as of now but no worries since Google did announce that the PDFs should launch in the new GA “in a few weeks”.
.

2) It no longer seems to calculate metrics when comparing them to past (e.g. Visits up 12% compared to past date).

3) The metric "Time on site"
Time on site is actually a very poor metric for measurement. What this analyzes is the time between pages. Here’s an example:

Say you visit 3 pages:
a) 1:00
b) 1:00
c) 1:00

Google will only provide you the total time on the first and second page. It will never count the amount of time that the person spent on the exit page. So if someone visits your homepage and exits, it’ll show time on site as 0 and bounce rate as 100%. It’s very important to be aware of this.

Now Whats new in Google Analytics ?

Here is an awesome article from mashable on 10 New Analytics features you need to start using

The most interesting features of the above ten are :

Flow Visualization now includes Visitors Flow and Goal Flow.
Real Time analytics
Keyword Cloud Visualization
Social Engagment

To help you navigate to the above features heres another article to guide again from Mashable.
