I happened to do some research on analytics and came across a tool called MINT (http://haveamint.com/). This has been developed by http://www.shauninman.com/ the person who developed a stat plug-in called short stat for word press. I haven’t done a thorough research on the tool. The following are the features that I could gather from the initial reading.
1.It gives real time analytics
2.It supports plug-in interface called peppers I.e. extra functionalities can be incorporated via third party plug-ins.
3.The analytics resides on your server.
4.It involves a onetime license fee of 30$.
I came across a good review of Mint, but the review has been done for v1. The current version of MINT is v2. The article offers review of other analytics such as Google Analytics and Stat Counter. http://davidseah.com/archives/2006/12/1 ... analytics/
http://www.somerandomdude.net/blog/deve ... tat-tools/ This article also offers insight on Mint, Google, Crazy Egg and Feed burner.
Another tool to look into is http://www.w3counter.com/
Thought I have collected this information, I have not done actual research using the tools mentioned above and don’t know whether they are better than the google analytics tool.
