This is going to be essential for taking the guesswork out of the bid increases on PPC campaigns.

Here's a on the Adwords Bid Simulator..... here is a on the details.

The next step IMO - is tying the visitors predicted into the Google Analytics goal metrics (like goal conversion rate and per visit value)to predict leads/purchases/revenue for increases in ad spend.

This will allow us to give a decent idea of the ROI for PPC spend increases.

Neat eh?!

Yes --- Matt actually made a post on the TW blog about this. Looks very exciting. Hopefully we will get more details about how bid simulator works once we get testing it a bit more. :)

I wouldn't say it takes the guesswork out entirely. Remember that your position is determined not just by your bid, but by the . This means that bid is just one aspect of the ranking algorithm. You can still have a terrible keyword/ad copy/landing page combination and then rank low in results, while paying more per click than the guy above you who has a well-optimized campaign across the board.

And I'm not sure if tying in Goal Conversions would be as useful as clicks, which is still a shaky prediction in this incarnation. Data is only based on the "previous week" (which may be 7 days previous or the previous Sun to Sat, no one has really said) and not on long-term data. Seasonal selling would be the worst affected by such data as their activity tends to swing wildly from season to season, from holiday to holiday, and from calendar date to calendar date.
