TechWyse has used Facebook previously for advertising. In that case, we were able to target specific users based on their "Network".
However, it seems Facebook is looking at delivering relevant advertising based on information in a user's profile. From interests, to the add-ons they have in their profile, to common interests amongst their network of friends.
Interesting read, and you have to wonder a few things, most importantly-will it actually work? I also wonder about how intrusive it may become in an individual's newsfeed, as the odd sponsored links already in there seem a little intrusive already.
