The Google PPC Cookie in action...

An interesting observation today, and not one I see all that often.

While updating daily PPC stats in Google, I noticed one client receiving conversions on their account. However, when I looked closer, the conversions were for an Ad Group that was paused last week, and both conversions registered this week.

Interesting to see the Google cookie being returned after a follow-up visit the next week and registering with the paused campaign. Well, seeing it in such an obvious fashion, as opposed to later in the day, the next day, or not knowing when the initial visit was made if the campaign ad group is still active.

In simple terms, previous visitors who did not convert on their initial visit have returned to the site and completed the goal conversion. In this case, submitting the contact form. The Google cookie was still on their computer from the previous visit via AdWords, and it was returned when they completed the goal action.
