It's a good point to bring up, because newbies should be aware.
However, if a shopping cart is coded and set up properly, the ssl is only directed to areas where the client has to login, to edit their profiles or enter cc details to purchase.
And in this case, Search robots wouldn't follow it anyway.
The problem, i see some times, is that on the secured pages, links that should go to non-ssl pages like product pages, are configured wrongly to go to ssl version of the pages, which means robots could pick them up and cause dup issues.
From my experience, it's pretty rare to see.
