Three Simple Factors in SEO

1. Keywords
The keyword plays a vital role in the development and promotion of any website or web page. It is one of the very first things you need to consider in an SEO campaign and will be brought into action through nearly every stage of that same campaign.

When Is A Keyword Used?

When a search engine visitor enters a word or multiuple-word phrase into the search box, this is known as a keyword or keyphrase respectively. The search engine then crawls through its database to find pages that are relevant to the exact search query and displays those results. The search engines use algorithms to determine which pages are the most relevant and offer the greatest user experience. The most relevant and most beneficial page receives the coveted top spot and the remaining places are given priority in a similar manner.

Where To Use Keywords On Your Site

For the most effective SEO campaign, keywords should be used in numerous areas of the site:
• URLs that include primary keywords have been seen to perform better with some search engines.
• The same is also true when the path of a particular page contains keywords relevant to that page.
• A lot of search engines are no longer considered meta search engines because they do not use your meta tags to formulate their results. However, MSN and some other search engines do still use them. Including your keywords in the appropriate meta tags can help with SEO.
• The title of your page is not only used in search engine results and displayed in the title bar of your page it is used by search engines to help determine keywords and page relevancy.
• Keyword density is a hotly debated topic. Search engines keep algorithms to themselves so nobody really knows for definite what they are looking for in terms of density. However, the big three search engines (Google, Yahoo, and MSN) are firmly believed to have different keyword densities.
• It is even believed that formatting tags such as bold and underline around your keywords can help improve your rankings.
• Anchor text is the portion of a link that is seen by site visitors. Links to your site that contain relevant keywords in the anchor text will help massively when search engines create their results for that particular keyword.

Keyphrases are more effective

Keywords it is important to ensure that they are not only relevant but will generate useful, targeted traffic. It is easy to forget that the reason you undertake an SEO campaign is to generate more traffic, and provide more customers in doing so. The more targeted your traffic the more likely they will be to purchase your product, pay for your service, or click on your links.

2. Content Optimization

Hey content is the king for any web site. Here is the Content optimization process that gain and lose importance. Content optimization is no exception to this. Through the many algorithm changes that take place every time, the weight given to the content on your pages rises and falls. Currently incoming links appear to supply greater advantage than well-written and optimized content.
The goal for anyone following this series is to build and optimize a website that will rank well on the major search engines and, more difficult and far more important, hold those rankings through changes in the search engine algorithms. While currently having a bunch of incoming links from high Page Rank sites will do well for you on Google you must consider what will happen to your rankings when the weight given to incoming links drops, or how your website fares on search engines other than Google that don't place the same emphasis on incoming links.
While there are many characteristics of your content that are in the algorithmic calculations, there are a few that consistently hold relatively high priority and thus will be the focus of this. These are: Heading Tags, Special Text, Inline Text Links, and Keyword Density.

3. Link Building
Linking is one of the most important components of increasing traffic to your web site. Here are 8 simple methods to get links to your site:
- Links are a contract term: Any time you sign a contract with a new business partner, include in the agreement a requirement that they must link to your site.
- Web based PR: Promote your site using conventional PR! We like to use PRWeb because they are inexpensive, and offer great access to news directories, as well as conventional magazine editors.
- Use URL Wire to launch a site: Eric Ward's URL Wire is a great way to announce the launch of a new site.
- Start a Blog: Blogs are a great way to recruit links. Be careful though. Keep the commercialize low. Also, make sure you learn how to use tags, and plug it into Technorati. You can read our article on Blogging SEO tactics for more information.
- Ask Visitors to the Site to Link to you: Keep it reasonable. Don't bury them with the "link to us" message. But if they want to give you a link, make it easy.
- Implement RSS feeds: If you have a blog, or publish article regularly, you can syndicate the articles, or synopses of the articles (better) using an RSS feed. This helps increase your exposure. Also, you can submit to 20 or so RSS feed directories, each of which is good for a link.
- Submit to Quality Directories: Pick quality directories, such as Yahoo and the Open Directory Project (ODP), and submit listings to them. There are others that are good too. Best of the Web is also decent.
- Ask for Links from other Sites: Make lists of sites that you would like links from. Keep them highly relevant to your business. Contact them and show them why linking to your site would be beneficial to their visitors.
