2011 seems to have new algorithmic transitions from . Google breaks down the common misconceptions with which some tried to conceal spammy content which includes;

1) Google doesn't take a strong action on spammy content if those sites are serving Google ads.
2) Users cannot strike directly once you are in the SERP. (Google might come up with options that allows users to impose an embargo on spam sites!!)
3) Clone a site - you can better the search result
