Rich pins are “super pins” that allow businesses to include additional information about the image they are pinning. Right now, there are three types of rich pins: product, recipe and movie. The additional information mentioned is pulled directly from the company website and added to the pin (see examples of each below). The main differences (advantages really) to rich pins are: they automatically update with your website, they stand out and they make shopping or finding information on Pinterest easier.
