Use Of Proxy IP address

Sites like Facebook, Wikipedia, Bookmarking sites, Forums, Blogs and Q&A's are the main backlinks sources and they are getting really strict in terms of repetitive activities from same IP's.
Looking at a long term perspective and to prevent our IP's from getting getting banned by Social Networking and Social Media Sites we need to diversify the array of our IP address.
I think the use of Proxy IP's for submission to Canadian directories, Niche directories and to other directories for which our server doesn't have access to can be effective. It can also be useful to increase our link popularity. Few of the Social Bookmarking sites have already Blocked us and we need to make sure that this doesn't happen in the future.

I wanted to know how effective this can be if implemented. Looking forward to your replies on this thread..
