Subject: SEO and SM
I sent this out a couple of days ago in PDF. It is a long read, no doubt. I converted it to html and put it here http://www.createonlinebusiness.com/ga_ ... _networks/
Nitin, when you have some time this read is amazing. Especially the way social media works and how you set up your blogs to broadcast throughout your SM grid. Last night I read the entire article.
I would be really interested to hear back for you after you consume it. Your high level views are always appreciated.
I believe there is finally some clarity here in how we could logically move forward integrating/ adding SM into SEO or website promotion.
The longer we sleep the more asleep we will be when it becomes evident. This is the way the web is moving. We already have the IR (Influence Rank) algo that has replaced PR (Page Rank). The storm has begun and it’s raining, let’s get out of the rain where it’s warm a dry .
Cheers,
Regards,

Hi Rob
These are busy days in SEM so much happening all at once. I have been reading through this and a study from Indiana University on psychology behind viral marketing. What it means is SEM is truly beginning to attract study disciplines like psychology, administration etc and talent. SEM is truly becoming cerebral.
I’ll get back to you as soon as I can SEM guru.

Hooray…Nitin you know I have had that mindset for years. Although I am not a qualified psychologist, this has been an ingredient always needed for SEM. What’s in the mind of people when they are entering keywords into Google. What triggers work best, on and on. Damn straight you gotta have a way to think about what others are thinking. Further to that when you get “inside” how to set up the ultimate conversion system under that circumstance.

Hi Rob
Your quote “What’s in the mind of people when they are entering keywords into Google”
What compels people to search for something on the net? In the society, every social group should have influences that arouse curiosity, demand consideration and finally justification for making that purchase. You have factors that create demand within a group: micro factors. Then there are factors that are external much bigger and create demand across multiple social groups and even at the level of a nation.
I’ll use an example that is very current to drive home my point. Something that has been in focus in Canada for some time now is Brandon Crisp; a teenage addicted to xbox walks out in huff when its taken away and today he is found dead. It’s a tragic tale. Every parents would be as a consequence worried about their teenager who does not have a social life. Result parents frantically looking for counseling help. So is there a correlation between news and search on net. I believe there is. Look at what the search trends reveal below for Canada. The search trend is climbing vertically up. So its for the search term addiction. For rest of the keywords the trend does not reveal to us much because the search volumes do not reach a certain threshold.

I believe this is where we can help through social media and use this intelligence for our PPC campaigns. What if we had a client that offered counseling how would we connect people looking for help to him? This news item was at a national stage then there are city based and even province based news items that trigger search.
One way I can think of is to coincide press releases for related hot search term, that should really put some booster on that press release in terms of reach and attention. Social media platforms are usually hot with the latest news and discussion about them and that’s where we ought to be at the right time with the customized posts and messages.
By the way these are entirely my thoughts very raw and need to be worked on.
Regards
Nitin Joseph

SEM’s success will always be dependant on how “thought out” each strategy is. Now with all the possibilities, the more genius you are, better understanding you have of the internet…the more successful you will always be. Rarely do people succeed online by fluke. Organic rankings are earned by true authorities for the most part.
If you recall a few years back, ranking were pretty easy to get. You could often look at the top ten and say WTF, how did that site get there? Those were the days when you could fluke your way into the top ten fold.
I Really Like this, It speaks volumes…
