I read this article about the effects of the recent changes with Google Places. There is some good experiementation data here and strong findings about the importance now of optimizing not only for SEO but also for Places. There is a 3rd member on the block now!

Further to my above post this is a very very in depth analysis of Google Places implications and how it will grow in terms of a public relations department, and also introduces the idea of LINK and LIKE builders.
