I have been increasingly noticing a new design trend and it seems to be apparent that we in the verge of a new design trend. Its uniquely name "FLAT DESIGN" and it fits the bill if you ask me. Its simple clean & crisp. Its a complete shift from the glossy web 2.0 look and clearly away from the bright and obvious gradients. So far from some of the inspiration sites i have managed to look into i definitely like this trend and i think it suits UI designs perfectly.

Here are some examples that you can refer to.

Great find PG!

Perhaps this has been brought into the mainstream by Windows 8?

I think some new research needs to go into this? What are the benefits?
- is this meant for touch screen and mobile as well?
- is there an industry or market this is more meant for or will all sites eventually move to this?

Great find!

TW site will need to be rebuilt soon too!

I love this design style and PG you explain it well! Like you said, we're starting to see a lot of cross platform designs using this style and I'd say it's a combination of Google and Microsoft (among others of course) that really brought it to the main stream.

This is a great post. Everything seems to be simple boxes, easy to find, less content. I wonder what this will do for the future of SEO? I came across several sites that I love. Is it time that we start trending our designs towards this PG? Thoughts. I just am of course concerned for the performance of sites in search engine with this style of site. I guess off page will take an even stronger stance?

I would like to try an exercise with our next design. Let's try adding this type of look and feel at the least to the homepage. I feel the new Club Ink design we are working on is perhaps already exercising this look! I will send back some small revisions, but overall think we are going to be able to nail this one!

Woo! Very excited about this!

Thanks Britt & PG for sharing your thoughts & feedback's.

Flat design is one the reflections on Web Design trends in 2013! ( I posted this on March)
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4090

Simple, Clean designs can go a long way in the world of WEB Trends. "When others are looking for ways to have the most complicated and best design out there, being simple can sometimes make people think that it is interesting"

Flat design is simple and reduced to a minimum. The idea is to remove all distracting design elements and really focus on the content and your users’ goals. Use visual cues, such as color and typography to guide your users and help them reach their goals.

Thanks & Regards.

Lets keep staying on top of trends so that we are always on top of the industry! Can't wait to see flat designs beginning to come out of INTL! Maybe with the new TW site!

As we have mentioned in our previous articles, one of the latest trends in web design world is of Flat Design. This trend is being followed all across the globe and is being appreciated as well. People have had enough of designing that included almost every possible thing available for designing. Like I always say, if you are creative enough, you can make a simple design look attractive and this is exactly what our current designers are finally doing.
