Streaming Video on Websites

Postby DJ » Thu Jun 22, 2006 8:07 pm

This is the future guys!

Think about the impact that video on sites is having. For instance --- I often work late at night and watch live baseball games! Think about all of the doctors and retail companies that are asking us to put video on their website.

On next mission really should be to learn how to master it, and use it as a marketing element for our clients. This means:

- learn what works
- learn what is considered good usability
- learn what people want to see
- learn the technical side of implementing

I have no doubt in my mind that websites will be turning to this more and more as the internet evolves. The internet never used to be this capable of handling bandwidth. (its only 14 years old!) Think about what is going to be in demand in 5 or 10 years from now!

Lets starting being mindful of this! What are your thoughts?

It's a great idea

Hey DJ
Great idea! The US Motion Picture industry is in a huge hubub over it and working franctically to quash any of it because of copyright fears. However, the public is demanding it!

Every tech podcast I hear always ends up covering this topic. In fact just this week Apple is in a stale mate with the US Motion Picture Industry over pricing for movies sold on iTunes. Apple wants to do all titles for $9.99 but the Motion Picture Industry wants flexible pricing. Apple is against because they want to make the choice simple for customers in adopting this new technology!

Any way - it's a huge topic primarily because the public is moving quickly to an On Demand model. This includes music, information, vidoes, movies, and yes - advertising!!

As I come across information on this topic, i will be sure to post it under this thread!

Cheers,
Chris

I agree and wonder if the best way for TechWyse to "wade" into this field is to start with somethign like Google Video where the parameters are set for us and we can experiment with what works. I like the idea of exploring how we can stay ahead of this trend.

video capacity

This is a very hot topic right now in Online Marketing.

I suggest we start working on the pricing models for this as soon as possible and outsourcing a great videography production co. to do the filming/editing work (I know one) if our clients don't have footage already.

The marketing value of such a feature is well known and certainly within the realm of our "sales scripts" thus far. As soon as we have all the particulars - we can sell it! This type of sell or upsell would be great for our consultative product offerings. It is a great "marketing professional" suggestion.

Keep the ideas flowing!

Does someone want to take a lead on this as a mini project?

Topics to cover:

- findings
- how can we integrate this into our current business
- what are the stresses and issues for launching
- how can we wrap this into a billable service?
- what client type can we sell it to?

Regarding teh actual film work. Assuming the client is local (or if the client wants to pay for the travel) I have someone already. Best in the biz!

We should get on this!

Great site Don,

I think we're definitely on the right track. The internet will be the playground for ALL advertisement in the future. Film & TV Production companies are already creating internet specific advertising.

A great example was American Express' online advertising featuring Jerry Seinfeld & a cartoon Superman. You could only see it online on the American Express website. Even though it's not there anymore, the World Wide Web is still buzzing with sites about it.

Check out the link and tell me you don't want more. I've also seen a part two, but i can't seem to find it on the official American Express site.
