Yahoo Answers is a place where people ask and answer questions on any topic. Any one from any place can share the facts, opinions and personal experiences with the Yahoo! Answers community?
As of November 2006, it contains 65 million answers and more than 7 million questions.
When you asking a question, please try to work with the following areas
Ask: Don’t hesitate to ask any question on any topic that matters to you, so that other people can give you answers.
Answer: Certainly If you have an answer to a question? Share what you know and make someone’s day.
Discover: Any thing can discover, Browse answered questions and tap into the wealth of ideas and experiences that people have shared.
Categorize: when asking a question, very first you categorize it in a topic, making it easier for others to find and answer it.
Open Question: Your question is open for others to answer for 4 days. You can extend or shorten this time period.
Best Answer: once your question is answered, select the best answer, or have the community vote for the best answer.

There are a number of interesting features built in, including spam flags and RSS feeds for every question.

Lifecycle of a question
As you get to know Yahoo! Answers, you'll notice three different types of questions.
Open: open questions still need answers
Undecided: undecided questions have multiple answers, and the community has been asked to vote for the best one.
Resolved: Resolved questions have had a best answer chosen.

Points and Levels

Points and levels help you keep tabs on how active you (and others) are on Yahoo! Answers. You get points for different types of actions, like answering a question. The more points you get, the higher your level.

Getting started with the web services

1. Get an Application ID
To access data via the Yahoo! Developer Network; you will need to nail down an application ID of your very own. It's quick, free, and painless, and will help us enormously as we continue to expand our services.
2. Read the Fine Manual
Relax, you're halfway done. Please finish this page, and then take a few more minutes to read up on each of the Answers Web Services that you're going to use.
3. New To the Developer Network
Please check out the Frequently Asked Questions. If you'd like to see some example code, go grab the Yahoo! Search Software Development Kit, which includes BSD-licensed examples and libraries for Perl, Python, PHP, Java, JavaScript, Flash, and more.

Answers Web Services

questionSearch Find questions that match your query.
getByCategory List questions from one of our hundreds of categories, filtered by type. You'll need the category name or ID, which you can get from questionSearch.
getQuestion Found an interesting question? Get question lists all the details for every answer to the question ID you specify, including the best answer, if it's been chosen. Get that question ID from question Search or get By Category.
getByUser List questions from specific users on Yahoo! Answers. You'll need the user id, which you can get from any of the other services listed above.

Yahoo! Web Search Web Services are limited to 5,000 queries per IP per day per API. See information on rate limiting and Usage Policy to learn about acceptable uses and how to request additional queries.
