Touted as 'Google killer', the much talked user-generated search engine 'wikia search' has come to a rather abrupt end. Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales yesterday announced that 'Wikia Search' is closing its doors, sharing the fate of Microsoft's groundbreaking Encarta encyclopaedia.
In fact, the launch of Google's SearchWiki feature in November last year seems to indicate that there is a quest for human prioritization and customization of search results. Now the momentum is gained around Microsoft's 'Kumo'-its time for Microsoft to pay heed to learn from the case of ill-fated Wikia Search.
