In a asking "Would You Allow Google to Manage Your AdWords Account? " 87% are of the opinion that they'll either hire an SEM company or manage the account themselves. Interesting that they don't trust Google.

This is somewhat interesting and promising info for SEM companies :)

I wouldn't either. I somehow would do it myself or hire someone.

Speaking with others and seeing what people are posting, it really isn't all that bold. A lot of the "optimization" work isn't really done by dedicated experts anymore, but sales people and fellow SE Marketers. Most SE Marketers have a lot more experience and familiarization with their client accounts and can do a much better job creating a fully optimized and successful account compared to those doing it at Google.

The campaign they created had included a load of words we had already deemed not relevant or removed due to poor performance. Apparently they don't research the account history before creating these new campaigns and ad groups.
