Save and pin tabs in Chrome!

If you haven't noticed already, there's a setting in Chrome to save your tabs on exit so you can continue where you left off when you restart. It's pretty useful.

Just go to: chrome://chrome/settings/ and click On startup: Continue where I left off

You should be mindful that if you let your saved tabs get out of control Chrome can take awhile to load on our laptops since they're not super powerful. You can do the same thing in Firefox, and set it not to actually load the pages in the tabs until you click on them (this might only be in the Tab Mix Plus plugin).

Another related useful feature in both Chrome and Firefox is Pinned Tabs.

If you right click on a tab and click "Pin Tab" it will slide to the far left and show just an icon. Personally I use this for gmail, calendar, autotask, wyselabs and google reader. Even if you are not using the "continue where I left off" feature the pinned tabs will always be there when you restart (unless Chrome catastrophically crashes).

Another thing you should know about these features is that you have to remember to close any secondary windows you have open before you close the main window, otherwise it may lose your tabs and even pinned tabs because it remembers based on the last window closed. If you mess up and still have a window open after closing the main one you should be able to reopen the main window by opening a new window immediately, but if you close the last window you've probably lost it all.
