So we recently posted Google Friend Connect to the Rise To The Top Blog.

My question though is regarding functionality of this product.

I have seen it used on other sites that are not blogged based such as this: http://www.billboardforthepeople.com/

From what I gather it is really helpful for regular websites that are NOT blogs. This way people can write comments about pages etc within Google Friend Connect instead.

So my question really is this ::: is Google Friend Connect useful for blogs since comments can already be made on blogs?

Personally I think adding the second widget is what's missing. Not all people want to make an official blogpost. Once a connection is made it take 2 seconds to say "Hi everyone" in the comments widget. You can change the title to something like "Introduce yourself".

What are some other options?
