Nice write up Harish.

Now talking about Chrome, the importance of resource usage comes into play when we read about what is in store with Internet Explorer 8. It is another resource eating monster like Windows Vista. Read here: http://www.infoworld.com/article/08/09/ ... her_1.html

Very pertinent point that you made Sreedhar. If Chrome is going to be a resource ravager like IE8, it quite simply won't live up to it's promise. But Google had enough foresight to have taken care of the matter if this is to be believed:

Nothing hot about Chrome I guess, it's ever so cool!

There was one problem with the licensing agreement, which I believe Google has realized and has altered.

Chrome's End User License agreement appeared to give Google a perpetual right to use anything one entered into the browser. Section 11 stated that although users retain copyright to their works, "by submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services."

Google fixes chrome security issues
Google fixes the security vulnerabilities by replacing the chrome beta version (0.2.149.27) with 0.2.149.29. But they are keeping silent on which are the issues fixed. The company said in a statement that “there are some security fixes that we’ll keep quiet because we don’t want to disclose security vulnerabilities to the attackers. The updated version released on friday still not available to all users. By clicking on the wrench icon in Chrome's upper-right corner, then select “about Google Chrome”, you can check the availability of the update version. It gives you the message whether the update is available.

Wow! That's pretty quick indeed. Just 3 months after the launch baby Chrome is out of the cradle and up on its legs :!: But interestingly is not yet out of the cradle. It still says Gmail Beta up there on the top left corner. :?: Couldn't figure that out. Guess I am not the only one.
