Yahoo Gives Itself Permission to Change Our Search Marketing

Postby asha » Thu Jan 08, 2009 6:09 am

Adding rile to their non-user friendly paid search platform, Yahoo began invading its customers personal search through an upadate to their terms and conditions. With this new updation they assign themselves to hijack their customer's search marketing campaigns. It's clear that Yahoo doesn't understand what makes search engine marketing valuable. Obviously, this is going to be the death knell for Yahoo.

I'll have to dig through the update they sent to check out the exact wording.

Needless to say, their system has not really changed for the better over the past year, and support has all but disappeared. Meanwhile, MSN has a rep fighting to keep growing companies like TechWyse in their support umbrella and have been great in terms of assisting us and lending a hand with our campaigns rather than taking them over. Even the smallest change has only been done with our approval after they contacted us.

I second that notion! After speaking with some Yahoo! reps they told us that they wanted to take away our team of support because we werent spending enough money. Yet they did not realize that the reason for this was because the support person we had somehow messed up some of our accounts and caused a great deal of discension and issues with clients. The system also wouldnt allow us to upload new campaigns so when our clients were coming to us for ad spend recommendations we had to give them honest advice.

The response form Yahoo! was not "How can we fix this problem and win back your support?" It was, "fine if you take your business away, then we are not going to support you anymore!"

Google and MSN on the other hand have been first class with the agency support services.
