It is reported that Google is testing AJAX based search results on a limited base (or completly?).If Google rolls out AJAX-based search results on a wide scale, this may put rank checking tools & other web analytics softwares in danger. These two will flash a better on this topic.

The chances of this taking place in the near future is high. I think it will help them strengthen their monopoly. Howvere if its in direction to improve upon speed via avoiding page refresh i think difference will be very minimal. Google is not a graphic intensive site anyway... but i can be wrong the the speed imrpovement factor.

The move can also help google to further push its analytics tool.

If it was me i would say go flash... teh new shopping carts using flex applications are really awesome in terms of content display and usuability.
