I have written the following thread to go through the new Cuisipro site and explain how the site can be improved both in terms of search engine optimization and website conversion.
Search Engine Optimization
- Top Navigation – beginning with Accutec – make sure the navigation is in HTML text. Doing this effectively gives search engines the ability to read a sitemap at the top of every page and understand where the user is being led. With Images search engines cant read the text.
- Top Banner Image – I can see this is being done in flash on inside pages. At the very least use the version of Flash which allows the text to be hovered and copy/pasted. This way search engines can at least read that.
- URL Naming – try to use meaningful names of URLs as search engines read them in gaining an understanding of what the page is about. Also try to keep any page names from the old site where possible --- otherwise currently indexed content found through search engines will be dead links for users now and SE’s don’t like that.
- The three body blocks of content at bottom of homepage – make the titles clickable as they offer far more relevance then the MORE button.
- ALT text – use alt tags in both the images and links with 2-4 words describing what the image relates to with the company.
- H1, H2 Tags – use them to highlight the most important titles on the page.
- Inside page text – try to use live HTML text wherever possible. Example – look at top banner of this page – should be able to scroll the text - http://cuisipro.com/site/eng/contact_us.aspx
- Site map – use a sitemap for all of the pages so search engines can spider the site better. Here is an example of a good sitemap - http://techwyse.com/site_architecture.php
STILL TODO
- Add Page Titles, Meta tags
- Add to webmaster tools
- Clean code
Website Conversion
This site would be a very interesting company to do measurement and tracking services with. It does not appear that ecommerce is an option on the site so the services suggested would be Google Analytics, Lead management including email and phone call tracking.
To start – the site would benefit from adding a small lead form on the homepage and inside product pages where interested parties could at least send the company their information telling them of their interest.
More buttons should be replaced with “Learn More”
Adding analytics and measuring the traffic and making suggestions on improvement based on the numbers would provide huge improvements on the development and growth of the site.
Hope this has been helpful!
